Lot Title:
1880 NGC MS-65.
Description:
Extremely well struck, quality of the details easily verges on that of a proof striking, with even the finest veins in the leaves on the reverse fully struck. This is a superbly preserved no-question white gem that would serve type purposes very well. Of course, only 37,355 dimes were struck this year, the low quantity explaining why the dies remained new enough to impart such bold details.

21 graded MS-66, 13 higher. The obverse strongly favors mango-gold patina, with a dash of spearmint-blue underlining the date, while the reverse features similar color tone in a slightly more... |
