Lot Title:
Five Capped Bust half-dollars.
Description:
Each member of this handsome half-dollar quintet is an original coin, and none have been attributed. 1833 is a dusky coin that grades F with a tiny rim tick at 1:00 on the obverse, and is succeeded by an 1835 with surprising hints of underlying luster that confirm at least a VF grade. A pair of 1836 lettered-edge coins follow, including one that grades VF, and another that grades VF, and an 1839 reeded-edge coin completes the gathering with a picture-perfect VF grade. These latter three coins are all similarly silver-grey in color, and help make this a very attractive five coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
