Lot Title:
1827 (N-3, R.2) PCGS AU-50.
Description:
The thin die crack penetrating the left side stars indicates a late die state, yet sharpness seems to have suffered little, since this is a solidly struck coin. Quality benefits further from meticulously preserved surfaces that display pleasing brown patina and the slightest evidence of vintage red color adhering to some devices. The PCGS AU-50 grade is probably a little conservative.

The condition census for 1827 N-7, an R.3 Newcomb variety is not that far above the technical aspirations of this smooth, brown example. In addition, perusal of past auctions suggests that many... |

If the obverse had as much red as the reverse, this coin would be designated Red Brown. It has wonderful detail, no distractions, and a ton of eye appeal. This is a must have coin for your type set. |
