Lot Title:
1891-S PCI MS-65.
Description:
Coins in PCI gold-label holders are frequently seen as having been graded to standards incompatible with those of the reliable grading firms, yet the MS-65 grade assigned this 1891-S Morgan dollar is surprisingly close to accepted market standards. Your fearless cataloger suggests that MS-64 is the more appropriate grade, and at that level, this shimmering silver-white beauty becomes highly desirable, as it would stand at the upper range of that grade. Each side is well struck and free from hairlines or other evidence of mishandling. If it were to grade fully MS-65, the value would rise considerably.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
