Lot Title:
1854 PCGS AU-55.
Description:
An old and harmlessly mild cleaning is the underlying cause for slightly over-brilliant surfaces, but considerable patina has been recovered over time, resulting in a rather deep butter-gold appearance. Curiously, the inner shield on the reverse is a full shade darker than the prevailing hue. Taking into account slight loss of detail to five points of wear, the strike must have originally been quite sharp, as every star is fully segmented at its center. Housed in a PCGS green-label holder.

1854 AU, and a 1929 Indian quarter-eagle AU details/cleaned.

Nominal cleaning is barely evident for the Indian quarter-eagle. The 1854 has a nice, original appearance and pleasing luster. Two coin lot. |
