Lot Title:
1917 NGC MS-66 FB.
Description:
Toning for this very gem dime is close to being sensational, since the vibrant full-spectrum album iridescence on the reverse is reduced to a limited sequence of toast-gold and tobacco-tan at the margins of the obverse. The strike is bold as can be, with the central bands on the fasces completely separated. Even the multiple veins in the stem of the olive branch can be seen with a loupe! As expected of the grade, neither side displays any noticeable blemishes, even under magnification.

Olive-gold tone flavors the obverse, especially nearer the rims. The reverse is touched with faint honey-grey patina. |

This specimen's intense satinlike surfaces support frosty design motifs that are accentuated with elegant russet and blue hues. A tick or two is a challenge to locate on this well-defined piece. |
