Lot Title:
1846 ANACS XF-45, 1852 NGC XF-45, and 1859 PCGS AU-50.
Description:
Only three Seated Liberty quarters are included in this lot, yet all are interesting coins and deserve some individual discussion. ANACS has graded an 1846 XF-45 and provided attribution as Briggs-2D. This variety is characterized by a nicely repunched date and is considered scarce, but what is interesting is the late die-state for this particular example. Threadlike die cracks spread out from each digit in the date, and the reverse shows evidence of several potential cuds, particularly at "ITED S". Next is an 1852 graded XF-45 by NGC, and this coin features amazingly luminescent neon-violet undertones within the fields of either side. The tone fades into chartreuse iridescence around the devices, providing a very attractive, electric appearance. Finally, a PCGS green label holder has an 1859 quarter graded AU-50, and this one also displays the beginning of a cud on the reverse at "ITED S", much like the first coin in this three coin lot.
