(About The Images)
Lot Title:
1867 NGC PF-66 Cameo.
Description:
Strident, blinding white luster radiates off this diminutive proof, providing flashy brilliance that is elevated by the obvious cameo contrast. Both sides appear pristine at normal viewing distance, and even with a glass, there is very little to detract from the clean appearance. A sprinkling of the tiniest imaginable carbon dots is lightly speckled over each side, but they fail to inhibit the eye-appeal to any degree. One advantage of the new NGC pronged holders is that a coin's rims are far easier to examine, and specialists will note the circumferential concentric polish lines that are generally diagnostic of proof three-cent nickels. They are particularly noticeable on this "very gem" example.
