Lot Title:
Mated Pair of No Date dimes PCGS.
Description:
Struck together multiple times initially, then later separated, this mated pair of grotesque error dimes together provide for a highly unusual topic of discussion. They were stuck together face-to-face as they were hammered multiple times by the dies, resulting in large, thin scraps of distended and misshapen dimes. Details for the outer faces are reasonably good where the die met the troubled planchet, but the inner faces are wildly distorted. Almost comically, PCGS graded one coin MS-63, the other MS-64, as if such refined grading standards could exist for coins that look like soda can pull-tabs.
