(About The Images)
1818/7 (O-103, R.3) XF. 1818/7 (O-103, R.3) XF.
Lot Title: 1818/7 (O-103, R.3) XF.
Description: CONSIGNOR: This one always reminds me of my 1815 for some reason, maybe because they're both overdates, but they have similar looks. Lots of tone, the back is the nicer side, though. CATALOGER: An understated coin that seems much nicer than the conservative XF-45 grade. 1818/7 O-103 is somewhat tougher in higher grades, and few will be able to exceed the aesthetic appeal of this lustrous piece. Bright yellow-gold luster can be seen around the obverse stars, surrounding amazingly smooth and problem-free dove-grey details. As the consignor states, the reverse is even nicer, featuring a broad colorful band that offers sea-green, midnight-blue and turquoise tones. Quite a bit better struck than usual for the die marriage, with deeply defined hair tresses and intricately struck feather details. From the Forest Park Collection.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1818/7 (O-101) XF.
Apple Peel Collection. Removed from an ANACS XF-45 holder which also showed the 1818/7 O-101 attribution. In terms of details, then grade seems closer to the VF-35 to XF-40 range, but the ANACS...

1818/7 large 8 (O-103, R.3) PCGS XF-45 CAC.
1818/7 is such a popular overdate in the series that many higher grade examples have been targeted for "improvement", and finding a nice piece with original surfaces is next to impossible. Luckily,...

1818/7 (O-101a, R.1) ANACS AU-50.
As an overdate representative, O-101 probably has a slight edge over O-102, since the top of the underdigit "7" is a touch more prominent. A boldly detailed example of the overdate.
