Lot Title:
1881 PCGS PF-64.
Description:
Extremely bright, clear surfaces gleam with glittering reflectivity, though the brilliant proof appearance essentially lacks cameo contrast on either side. Well struck in every regard, with very early die cracks just beginning to indicate a minor level of die fatigue. Although the planchet appears to have been slightly deficient prior to striking due to numerous tiny shallow surface pits on either side, they are hardly distracting, and there is no obvious reason to keep this coin out of gem consideration.
