Lot Title:
1871 J-1102. NGC MS-67.
Description:
This Reeded Edge, Rarity-7 1871 Quarter Dollar Pattern is an example of Judd-1102, Pollock-1238. It is an off-metal copper struck from regular Proof dies. For the year of 1871, all issues struck in metals other than the normal composition, for the intended denomination, are quite rare. Extremely impressive design elements are evident on this particular specimen, with nearly pristine surfaces, save for a couple insignificant speckles. Its blazing red aspect is augmented by dramatic peripheral tinges of sky blue.
