Lot Title:
1859-D PCGS AU-55.
Description:
A notable rarity within the production years of Quarter Eagles from the Dahlonega, Georgia Branch Mint. The diminutive number extant of this the small mintage (2,244) of this date makes the possibility of its acquisition an important opportunity. It was the last year this denomination was minted in Dahlonega. This specimen displays a rich yellow-gold surface quality with a significant amount of luster still present. Mildly hairlined, with a few random contact ticks observed. The usual soft detail definition occurs in the hair curls above Liberty's ear and the Eagle's right leg features, but all in all, it is an above average strike for this date.
