(About The Images)
1879 PCGS MS-68. 1879 PCGS MS-68.
Lot Title: 1879 PCGS MS-68.
Description: One of just five 'with motto' examples to reach the MS-68 grade, none higher. Obvious prooflike quality is expected of the issue, as P-mint quarters of 1879 - 1890 often exhibit a fully cameo appearance. The wondrous color pattern favors exceedingly vivid concentric rings of indigo-green, cobalt-blue and magenta-orange iridescence that allows no end to the number of superlatives that could be used to describe the stunning eye appeal. In terms of production quality, this coin can scarcely be distinguished from a proof of the era, and rivals the caliber of any premier toned coin from the Kaufman or Benson collections. One of just two examples awarded this lofty of a grade by PCGS, and none have graded higher. NGC has certified six examples MS-68, none higher.
