Lot Title:
1887/6 NGC PF-66 Cameo.
Description:
The 1887/6 three-cent nickel may be the best known proof overdate from any American series, and many times, the feature is bold enough to be seen without a glass. Gratifying contrast between the fields and devices immediately corroborates the NGC "cameo" designation, and the dramatic appearance also benefits from blinding white, pristine surface quality. No contact marks are to be found, though a handful of subtle planchet voids appear on Liberty's portrait, and a lint mark extends from her hair bun. Surprisingly (for a proof), the reverse displays a prominent die clash.
