Lot Title:
1798 Knob 9 (B-4, BB-92, R.4) XF/cleaned.
Description:
The effect of only a very mild cleaning takes the form of subtle alteration of the remaining mint luster and steely-grey color, yet a significant portion of the original surface quality remains. Many collectors would mistake this as an original coin. Two small dark spots are featured prominently behind Liberty's ear, and a trivial oblong planchet flaw remains attached to the rightmost cloud on the reverse. A little more attractive than implied by this description!
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

The most readily observed diagnostic for this variety is that the reverse depicts 10 perfect arrows, 1 faint arrow, and 2 'sticks' in the Eagle's talon. Because this piece was lightly cleaned at one... |
