Complete (1908 - 1929) certified Indian quarter-eagle set. NGC AU-53 - AU-58.
Description:
One of the very few gold series that can be attempted with reasonable odds for success is the Indian quarter-eagle series, as there is only a single key (1911-D) necessary for completion. The set becomes particularly practical if the collector is willing to pursue coins in higher circulated grades, yet it truly does provide equivalent aesthetic impact as a low end BU set -- at a much more palatable price. NGC has certified all fifteen coins included in this lovely complete set, with only two grades used to qualify each coin. The following are graded AU-53: 1908, 1911-D, 1912 and 1914. The balance are graded AU-58, including 1909, 1910, 1911, 1913, 1914-D, 1915, 1925-D, 1926, 1927, 1928 and 1929. At least several of these coins are actually more attractive than an uncirculated counterpart, as they have developed interesting toning that resulted from little time spent in circulation. The key 1911-D is one of these, with corn-gold accents lying atop glittering gold recessed details. It has a somewhat weak mintmark as is often the case, but the "D" jumps out at some angles of illumination. A complete set of fifteen coins.
