(About The Images)
1865 PCGS MS-65. 1865 PCGS MS-65.
Lot Title: 1865 PCGS MS-65.
Description: Convincingly similar in appearance to a proof, to the point that only the heavily clashed dies prove that this coin would not have been selected for representation in a contemporary proof set. The fields of the obverse die were heavily polished, probably in an effort to lap the clash marks, and that undoubtedly contributed to the prooflike impression. The reverse remains satiny and lustrous, however. Pleasantly accented with sweet honey-gold toning.
