Lot Title:
1873-CC No Arrows. NGC MS-61.
Description:
The 1873-CC half-dollar is much scarcer than its "arrows" cousin, though the disparity in value is not nearly as great as exists between "arrows" and "no arrows" subtypes for the dime (Of course, in the case of the dime, only a single "no-arrows" example exists!). This coin appears finer than the assigned grade at first glance, since mint luster fills the fields and the clean appearance is frosty and seemingly original. The most obvious candidate for "grade determinant" is a flat strike on Liberty's forward thigh, though elsewhere, details seem adequately defined. Satiny and very attractive, and surely worth more than what the grade implies.
