(About The Images)
1922 Grant w/Star. PCGS MS-64. 1922 Grant w/Star. PCGS MS-64.
Lot Title: 1922 Grant w/Star. PCGS MS-64.
Description: Stark aluminum surfaces are not clouded by any toning, but do show a generous supply of the die polish for which commemoratives of this era are famous. With the incused star, the Grant commemorative is substantially scarcer than its "no star" counterpart, bearing a net mintage of only 4,256 pieces - minuscule by commemorative half-dollar standards. Noticeable evidence of a clashed die includes an impression of the tops of the reverse trees within the obverse denomination. Grading considerations must take into account a couple of tiny blemishes on Grant's temple, and careful observers will note an intrinsic crack in the planchet near 1:00 on the obverse rim.
Low Estimate: $2,400.00
High Estimate: $2,600.00

1922 Grant w/Star NGC MS-65.
Eunice Peters Estate. Much scarcer and valued about ten times more than the no-star variety. Deep russet-bronze and a hint of lime-green toning confers original eye-appeal upon both sides of this...
1321The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$4,000.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-65.
218 graded MS-65, 52 higher at NGC. Recognized as a condition rarity within the commemorative half-dollar series, the "Grant, with star" saw only 4,256 examples struck, far less than the 67,405...
1098The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$2,300.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-64.
Fields hint at semi-prooflike character, as is occasionally seen for the "Grant, with star". A fairly early die-state with pronounced die polish lines is evidently responsible for better than average...
276The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$265.00
1922 Grant w/Star. VF details/cleaned/pvc.
Seldom do commemorative half-dollars circulate great extent, yet that is the case for this "Grant with star" half-dollar. Battleship-grey patina dominates the coin now, but it may have been cleaned...
381The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,250.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-63.
Of course, the "star" is the feature that instantly makes this issue recognizable, and most collectors of the commemorative half-dollar series realize that the "Grant with star" is the key in...
1124The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$1,150.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-63.
Mintage of 4,256 pieces is not drastically low for a commemorative, but many examples were mishandled, having been originally released to the non-collecting public. Thus, the rarity of the variety...
1146The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$1,050.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-62.
Out of 5,000 minted showing an incuse star in the obverse field, only 4,256 were sold. This handsome specimen glistens with a golden blush. A scant number of contact ticks and delicate hairlines...
1203The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$1,150.00
1922 Grant w/Star. SEGS MS-63.
Grant with Stars are super tough, especially in nicer grades. There is not one hint of toning on this Commemorative, and the surfaces are pleasingly reflective.
1561The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,650.00
1922 Grant w/Star. NGC MS-63.
The Mint counterpunched a small star on 4,256 examples to increase the sales of this issue for the commission in charge of their distribution. An exquisitely lustrous specimen with a nuance of gold...
1562The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$2,500.00
1922 Grant w/Star. PCGS MS-64.
This is a diabolically hard Commemorative to locate, especially in this high of a grade. The fields are super clean, there is attractive patina, and an amazing strike. This coin is housed in an...
