Lot Title:
No Date Jefferson Nickel, Late Stage Brockage and Huge Broadstruck Planchet, PCGS MS-62.
Description:
Frolicking fun and frivolity at our own Federal mint has sometimes been suspected as the source of many modern mint errors, but given the prodigious output of modern minting technology, it is no surprise that some mis-striking occurs. The present coin is a preposterous piece, shaped like a bottle cap with a bold and normal Monticello surrounded by distended lettering on one side, and an almost unrecognizably distorted version of an inverted Monticello on the other. It looks like something from outer space! Wild and wacky in every way.
