(About The Images)
1867 and 1868 Two Cent Pieces, PCGS PF-64 RB. 1867 and 1868 Two Cent Pieces, PCGS PF-64 RB.
Lot Title: 1867 and 1868 Two Cent Pieces, PCGS PF-64 RB.
Description: Quite often, hairlines play the determining factor for a proof coin's grade, but such is not the case with either of these two cent proofs. Instead, carbon spot seem to take on that role, though certainly neither has excessive carbon. The 1868 is more reflective than its 1867 companion, and also probably closer to a fully "red" grade, as the reverse of the 1867 has mellowed to 60% brown color. Two coin lot.

519The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$775.00
1867 NGC PF-64 RB.
French Connection Estate. Pale golden-bronze patina seems closer to RD than not, despite sienna-gold accents throughout. No obvious hairlines can be found on either side, implying that NGC kept the...
311The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$1,450.00
1867 NGC PF-65 RB CAMEO.
From Maxine's Proof Set Collection. Unusually warm, deep burgundy-red patina dominates the entire coin and tends to diminish any cameo effect, yet NGC was astute enough to actually look through the...
284The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$675.00
1867 Doubled Die Obverse, PCGS AU-55.
Dramatic doubling of the motto and all of the shield lines unmistakably identifies this as a "FS-101", the best known doubled die obverse of the series. Substantial mint red color and a lot of...
372The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$210.00
1867 PCGS MS-64 Brown.
Considering the grade assigned by PCGS (MS-64), this handsome double-cent is remarkably attractive, with satiny golden brown coloration and impressive design elements. The coin is practically devoid...
236The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$475.00
1867 PF-64RB.
A mostly Red, reflective Proof with needle-sharp detail. There are a few toning flecks that prevent this coin from grading PF-65.
287The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$700.00
1867 PF-64 RD.
An elegant specimen with light orange surfaces complemented by reflective fields. One or two contact ticks are noted for accuracy. An impressively struck example.
