Lot Title:
1806 Knobbed 6, Heraldic Eagle, AU Details, scratched and harshly cleaned.
Description:
A flagrant attempt to diminish the effect of a couple of minor scratches by scrubbing this coin with an eraser has unfortunately ruined any opportunity to discern original mint luster. The overly bright surfaces display exaggerated cartwheels. It is too bad, since obvious near-uncirculated detail remains, and the scratches are not as offensive as the cleaning.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

As usual, the goopy slab insert hides the edge, and likely disguises an edge aberration that led PCGS to the "ex-jewelry" disclaimer. Otherwise, the surfaces merely appear to be cleaned, albeit... |

Anymore, the opportunity to buy uncertified early gold with visual appeal seldom comes about. This is such an opportunity, an 1806 "knobbed 6" half-eagle with good eye appeal, good original surface... |
