Lot Title:

1918/7-D Buffalo nickel, ANACS F-12
Description:
An ideal 2/3 horn on the buffalo's head confirms the pinpoint accuracy of the ANACS grade, and that is by no means a given for this issue! This is an exceptionally original coin, with just that perfect "dirty buffalo" look that is so ardently pursued by many collectors. Of greatest importance, the overdate feature is easily discerned even without a glass (for this cataloger), as the thickening of the diagonal and the extra "corner" on the "8" are plain. Chances are this was one of the last coins struck off the erroneous obverse die, as the right obverse field displays the rippled effect of a deteriorated die.
