Lot Title:
1852-O NGC AU-53.
Description:
One of the worthier surviving specimens from the third year of production, for this denomination, from this southern mint, with a mere 190,000 struck. For an extremely large and heavy gold coin, the surfaces are highly devoid of unsightly marks and blemishes, and they display very light handling signs of wear. Its lustrous and satiny aspect is further enhanced by a warm, orange-gold iridescence and superb design details. Destined for the collector who requires extraordinary clean surfaces. It has good potential for an upgrade, if it is resubmitted for attribution.

It is unfortunate that this early date Double Eagle was cleaned. It appears to have a descent strike and no major marks. |
