Lot Title:
1891 Coronet quarter-eagle, PCGS MS-62
Description:
Evidently, the entire mintage of just 10,960 coins was struck off a single reverse die, as every example encountered displays outstanding doubling on the right side of the reverse. This coin features predominantly mellow-gold color with faint tinges of baby blue iridescence surrounding some devices. Luster abounds on both sides, and some pepper-specks of carbon are randomly strewed throughout, especially near the third obverse star.

This issue's vibrant golden luster and brilliant surfaces almost obscure some light hairlines and minuscule ticks. An impressively struck Quarter Eagle from the "Gay Nineties." |

A nice coin that some may say is a "slider." It has a great strike and a lot of original luster. |
