Lot Title:
1870 Coronet quarter-eagle, PCGS MS-60
Description:
Housed in an older green-label PCGS holder, the MS-60 grade accurately reflects the quality of this low mintage issue. Reflective fields are shaded with a general overlay of bronze-gold patina, and persistent examination of the high point reveals no discernible wear. Although the obverse alone appears obviously undergraded, the discovery of a cluster of pinscratches above the eagle's head on the reverse is undoubtedly responsible for the overall net grade assigned by PCGS years ago.
