Lot Title:
1882 gold dollar, NGC MS-67
Description:
Impeccable surface preservation and a flawless strike collaborate to produce a superb-gem of almost unspeakable beauty. This diminutive jewel exudes creamy golden luster that emits beams of apricot-gold brilliance from the slightly prooflike surfaces, contrasting very nicely with the breezily frosted devices. Despite a very low mintage of only 5000 pieces, most were evidently kept from circulation, as there are actually about ten pieces graded higher by NGC, and numerous other examples in grades higher than MS-65. But on that basis of high quality, it is also an issue highly prized by collectors for use in fulfilling type coin purposes.
