Lot Title:

1862 NGC AU-55 and 1891-S AU-58 certified Seated Liberty quarters
|
Description:
|
From the standpoint of overhead cost, most common date Seated Liberty quarters are really not the best candidates for certification, as a moderate percentage of the coin's value becomes locked into the cost of the submissions fees. However, it is understandable why the two in this offering may have been certified: they are so nice that the previous owner probably expected a mint state grade. Indeed, the shimmering 1891-S looks like a "Choice BU" coin (it is graded AU-58), while it's Civil War companion dated 1862 is graded AU-55 and displays a strong strike and plentiful mint luster. Both coins appear to have avoided any cleaning processes and should serve very nicely as either type or date representatives. Two coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
