Description:
|
An unnatural metallic sheen provides strong evidence that this coin has been whizzed, albeit only moderately. Judging by the plethora of tiny circulation marks, it is likely that a former owner felt a misguided desire to attenuate the cumulative effect of the effects of circulation, but unfortunately, the end result is not attractive. Fortunately, most of the original detail is still retained, as this coin obviously did not circulate very long. Although far from "rare", 1858-S is a little better date in the series.
