Lot Title:
1839-C Coronet half-eagle, NGC VF-35
Description:
A curious strike left a rather soft impression of the obverse detail, but brought up the reverse details quite nicely, considering the usual quality for coins struck at this southern mint. Perhaps a bit densely peppered with tiny bagmarks, but the only moderate mark is a thin gash that is cleverly concealed at the front of Liberty's ear. Good color for an issue that is often not attractive.
