Lot Title:
1862 Seated Liberty dollar, NGC PF-63
Description:
The PF-63 grade assigned this proof Civil War dollar is strictly accurate, as there are just a few hairlines scattered throughout the fields to imply the grade. Beautiful, succulent burgundy tones pour out across the right side of the obverse, spilling over and across all the borders of the reverse. The highly brilliant and flashy fields are intensely reflective and very deeply mirrored, yielding an illusion of contrast in spite of the lack of substantial mint frost atop the devices. As expected, the strike is incredibly sharp - even sharper than normal for a proof of this type. All in all, this is a pretty spectacular and impressive coin.
