Lot Title:
1783 Nova Constellatio cent, Blunt Rays, PCGS XF-45
Description:
Although many collectors frown upon certified grading of Colonial copper, your cataloger is of the opinion that the present Nova Constellatio has been accurately assessed an XF-45 grade by PCGS. Contrary to the usual planchets of sub par quality, this coin was struck on a pleasing planchet, and bears highly attractive mahogany-brown color and refreshingly smooth surfaces. Post-mint impairments beyond the limits of the assigned grade are conspicuously absent, with no more than perhaps a couple of ancient hairlines requiring note. The Nova Constellatio is often associated with the Fugio as the earliest copper issues produced by the Federal government.
