(About The Images)
Three 1883-CC GSA, and two 1884 GSA, all NGC MS-64. Three 1883-CC GSA, and two 1884 GSA, all NGC MS-64.
Lot Title: Three 1883-CC GSA, and two 1884 GSA, all NGC MS-64.
Description: NGC elected to assign MS-64 to each of these GSA dollars, and who are we to argue with the top grading service for GSA dollars? As expected, each one positively gleams with booming pristine white brilliance. Smoothness of the fields dominates the technical appeal, as in every case, trivial abrasions on the cheek seems to be what precluded gem consideration. A very pretty quintet that includes a couple of coins with a hint of cameo character.

1883-CC, plus four additional silver dollars, all UNC.
Trader Ed Collection. An 1883-CC looks like it should readily meet at least MS-64 grading standards, as Liberty's cheek looks just about as clean as can be, and delightful sparkling white luster...
853The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$230.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-64 (green label), and a 1921-D PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
PCGS green-label holders identify the grades for a pair of popular silver dollars, including a chalk-white 1883-CC that features aggressive wide-band luster on both sides. 1921-D features...
855The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$210.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64+.
Alluring alabaster-white surfaces display the classic extremely fine matte texture that gives so many GSA dollars their wonderful satiny eye-appeal. NGC places this one right on the cusp of the gem...
856The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$310.00
1883-CC ANACS MS-64 PL.
Depth of reflectivity approaches DMPL territory, though enough visible luster traverses the fields to support the ANACS PL. Very pretty for MS-63, the delicate surfaces definitely display fewer marks...
857The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,350.00
1883-CC GSA MS-66.
Although not certified, one would think at least MS-66 should be the appropriate grade given an exquisite, utterly smooth and clean cheek, along with an absence of practically any contact upon...

Four GSA dollars, two 1883-CC and two 1884-CC, all NGC MS-64.

Two 1883-CC GSA, and three 1884-CC GSA, all MS-64.

794The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$425.00
Two 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64.
Boxes and certificates included. MS-64 properly identifies the presence of minimal contact for each of these blast-white dollars. Technical twins, one features a faint hint overall apricot...
795The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$380.00
1883-CC ANACS MS-64, and an 1889-S ANACS MS-62.
Berry Tree Collection. Both are old ANACS holders, with 1889-S in an early ANA holder and rather decent for MS-62, showing off long swooping flowline luster and sky-blue crescents on both sides. ...
796The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$815.00
Three 1883-CC GSA, Two MS-64, one MS-65, and all NGC.

797The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$775.00
Two 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-65.
Boxes and certificates included. One bright, silvery example falls temptingly close to a prooflike designation, and would for sure warrant "SPL" if NGC utilized such a designation. The other...
798The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$380.00
1883-CC NGC MS-65.
Tiny contact points show up on Liberty's portrait under magnification, but present no distraction to the naked eye. Scintillating bands revolve around Liberty's portrait, and though delicate...

1883-CC (VAM-7) GSA NGC MS-65.

800The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$380.00
1883-CC (VAM-5) GSA NGC MS-65.
Box and certificate included. The upgrade in quality at the MS-65 level for a GSA dollar should always be for obvious reasons, and in this case, the clean cheek and practically unblemished fields...
885The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$300.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-63 DPL.
With box and COA(s). Scarcely more than a split second's worth of examination will instantly affirm DMPL quality, emanating from very deep mirrors (especially on the obverse), and exorbitant mint...
886The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$900.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64 DPL, 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64 PL, and an 1884-CC...
With box and COA(s). Extensive frost overshoots the primary devices for the 1883-CC in MS-64 DMPL, and the coin features truly astonishing reflectivity. The prooflike 1883-CC in MS-64 PL appears to...

1883-CC PCGS MS-65PL CAC, and an 1885 PCGS MS-65PL.
As designated by the CAC sticker, the 1883-CC is an especially gorgeous contact-free prooflike specimen, with extremely vibrant presence and very early dies that imparted a frosted glory around both...
888The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$450.00
1883-CC NGC MS-65+.
Exceptionally clean, just as one might expect of a "plused" grade, with almost the entire obverse field showing smooth, silky silver-white patina. A short, light scratch shows on the eagle's breast.
889The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$600.00
1883-CC (VAM-5A) NGC MS-66.
Delightful, with booming white luster and silky-smooth surfaces, the characteristics for MS-66 cannot be missed. Both sides exhibit exquisite, clean cottony surfaces and some evidence of a strong...
982The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$650.00
Four 1883-CC GSA.
Boxes and certificates included. None of these has been certified, but that only makes sense since these are modestly abraded examples of a most common date: 1883-CC. A couple should grade MS-62...
983The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$675.00
1883-CC MS-64, 1886 MS-66, and an 1897-S MS-64, all PCGS.
Attractively toned dollars comprise this trio, beginning with an 1883-CC that features a stunning "truck down the middle" swath of silver dividing up the obverse into two competing portions of...
984The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,050.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-66 (GSA).
Delicate, hazy peach toning filters across the left two-thirds of the reverse, but the obverse is where most of the colorful action takes place. Here, lovely cinnamon-grey patina drapes down across...
733The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$180.00
1883-CC GSA MS-64
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. VAM-5. Sparkling luster and pure white, with the reverse somewhat semi-prooflike. The quality compares well with GSA dollars typically certified as MS-64.
734The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$600.00
1883-CC MS-63, 1884-CC MS-64, and an 1885-O MS-64 DPL, all NGC (no...
Rim toning surrounds each member of this trio, with the interior of each showing off attractive off-white patina. 1883-CC attributes as an early VAM-3, 1884-CC seems to be VAM-9 and benefits from...
735The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$360.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-63 PL, and an 1884 GSA MS-63 PL.
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. While only the 1883-CC is certified by NGC as MS-63 PL, the accompanying 1884 obviously possesses identical, if not perhaps slightly better quality. Both are brilliant,...
736The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$200.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-63 PL.
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. VAM-5. Obverse fields retain a fair amount of cartwheel action despite the PL designation, while the reverse appears a touch more reflective, and also displays a...

1883-CC GSA MS-63.
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. VAM-7. Consistently prooflike on both sides, the entire coin is bathed in silvery brilliance, with a single tiny golden toning spot seen at the corner of Liberty's eye.
738The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-63 PL, and an 1884-CC GSA NGC MS-64 PL.
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. Sizzling, bright-white coins with deeply reflective fields, the 1883-CC appears to offer slightly stronger cameo contrast between the pair. 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64 PL,...
739The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$200.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-63 PL.
The Knob Lick GSA Collection. VAM-5. Bronze patina barely touches the rim in a very slender pattern, but most will call this a fully brilliant, white coin. The fields display fewer contact points...
740The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$370.00
Two 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-64.
NGC calls both MS-64, but one coin shows a noticeably cleaner cheek than the other. Lucky for them, jealousy doesn't run in the family. Both display exceptional white, frosty luster in this two coin...
741The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$625.00
1883-CC NGC MS-65, and an 1884-CC PCGS MS-65.
1883-CC VAM-7, and 1884-CC VAM-3. A pair of brilliant white Carson City dollars, these just ooze with GEM luster, as is affirmed by the respective MS-65 grades. 1883-CC displays a fairly clean...
696The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$2,600.00
Eighteen 1883-CC Morgan dollars.
Nicer coins make up this group, most of them fully white. A couple of pieces might be on the cusp of AU-58/60, but the average grade will easily fall into the MS-61 range. Eighteen coin lot.
697The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$190.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-63 (green label).
By itself, the reverse easily garners MS-65 accolades, while Liberty's portrait on the obverse does suffer a number of tiny ticks and contact points that appoint the grade. For sure, there is no...
698The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$500.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-63, and an 1884-CC PCGS (ex-GSA) MS-65.
A pair of high-mintage Carson Citys pair up in this lot, and they offer sparkling luster and exquisite details. 1883-CC grades MS-63 and features blast-white surfaces, with tiny but fairly numerous...
699The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$550.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-65 CAC.
Utterly untoned silver-white, with shimmering luster that pours off semi-reflective surfaces. Sharpness is complete nearly everywhere except just over Liberty's ear, and mint frost spills into to the...
700The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$610.00
1883-CC NGC MS-66.
Astounding in vibrancy, the luster shimmers in ways unimaginable even for MS-66. What a beauty! Fields are almost entirely free from contact, except for trivial luster grazes in limited presence. ...
869The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$475.00
Three 1883-CC GSA MS-63 (one NGC MS-63 PL).
The prooflike coin is a little chippy in the obverse fields, but features a very nice reverse, and overall brilliance is accentuated with contrasting peach-gold toning on the rim. Both of the...
870The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$650.00
Two 1883-CC GSA NGC MS-65.
One is very white and free from tone, while the other displays a hint of peach color, especially on the reverse. Both are only about average for the MS-65 grade. Boxes and certificates are not...
871The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$500.00
1883-CC (VAM-8) GSA NGC MS-65 PL.
Prooflike character is instantly recognizable, with the reverse leaning closer to DMPL status than the obverse. Both sides are close to being fully white, with a kiss of pale orange toning just...
872The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$800.00
1883-CC (VAM-5A) NGC MS-66.
An irregular but attractive splatter of pastel tones washes over the upper portion of the reverse and spills up over the rim, onto the lower edge of the reverse. This side (the reverse) appears to...
873The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,300.00
1883-CC (VAM-1) NGC MS-66 PL.
The prooflike effect denoted by NGC is not as strong on the obverse as is usually seen for coins with that designation, but there is definite, consistent contrast generated by the very fine matte...

Three 1883-CC GSA MS-64.
1883-CC is the only date in this trio of GSA dollars, and none have boxes or certificates. All are shimmering white except for one coin that has a spectacularly bag-toned reverse, and these will all...
657The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$310.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-65.
A blazing white Carson City issue that is dripping with luster. The devices are frosty white and sharply struck (Mark).
775The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$900.00
1883-CC VAM-5 PCGS MS-65DMPL.
The best identifying characteristic for VAM-5 is a prominent die scratch in the denticles beneath DOL on the reverse, and completing attribution is the dash beneath the second "8" in the date. The...
593The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$600.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-65 PL.
Conservatively graded compared to other GSA dollars certified by NGC, since neither side displays noticeable contact marks. This is a silvery-white coin with no toning at all, and the swirling...
594The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$360.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-65.
A silver-cream gem housed in a PCGS green-label holder. 1883-CC undoubtedly ranks as the most common Carson City issue available at the MS-65 level, and this one features a reasonably clean cheek for...
595The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$330.00

Two 1883-CC and an 1884-O. All GSA MS-63.
A trio of GSA silver dollars, each lacking box or certificate. Both 1883-CC coins grade MS-63, and the 1884-O probably just reaches the MS-64 level. Note that the latter coin is a NEW ORLEANS, not a...
595The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$190.00
1883-CC (VAM-2) GSA MS-64 PL.
Fields are unusually clean for this prooflike 1883-CC, and even the devices are only lightly abraded, leading to a choicer grade than typical. VAM-2 is easy to attribute by the slanting, filled...
596The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$340.00
1883-CC GSA NGC MS-65.
Mostly silky white except for a crescent of rainbow toning that traverse the enter date area. Gem surfaces lack any major abrasions whatsoever, with just trivial luster grazes determining the grade. ...
942The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$526.00
1883-CC and 1884-CC (x3) GSA.
A quartet of GSA dollars, and each one comes with its box and certificate. They are listed as follows: 1883-CC (MS-63), 2x 1884-CC (MS-63), and 1884-CC (MS-62). Four coin lot.
943The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$260.00
1883-CC GSA, NGC MS-63 DPL.
Extreme reflectivity is most obvious on the untoned reverse, while the obverse features a restrained level of beige-tan toning. A trapped air bubble just left of the eagle's left (observed) wing is...
944The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$320.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-65.
An off-white coin that likely originated in the GSA hoard. Each side glows with prominent cartwheel luster, and no significant blemishes can be found on either side. Housed in a PCGS green label...
945The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$350.00
1883-CC VAM-4. NGC MS-65 PL.
Minimally abraded on Liberty's cheek, but the fields are pristine. Obverse fields are not particularly reflective, though the devices are unmistakably frosted. VAM-4 is not attributed on the slab...
946The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$825.00
1883-CC GSA, NGC MS-66.
It is easy to see that this 1883-CC is preserved somewhat better than the typical gem, and the MS-66 grade is fully appropriate. Snowy white and free of all except the tiniest of blemishes, though...
766The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$140.00
1883-CC GSA MS-63.

768The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$950.00
1883-CC PCGS MS-65DMPL.
Resplendent prooflike contrast is all the more obvious since this coin is very nearly completely white. Likely a GSA hoard survivor, though that is not indicated on the slab insert.
769The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$360.00
1883-CC "VAM-3A", PCGS MS-65.
Housed in a transitional PCGS green label holder is this 1883-CC VAM-3A Morgan dollar, graded MS-65. A dash beneath the second "8" in the date identifies the VAM, and the strong evidence of die...

1883-CC, 1889, and 1889-S Morgan dollars, PCGS.
All the Morgan dollars in this lot are in rattler PCGS holders. An 1883-CC is graded MS-65, and judging by the clean cheek and smooth, rolling luster, it is no wonder the coin achieved "gem" status! A...

1883-CC PCGS MS-64, 1883-CC PCGS MS-63 and 1884-CC PCGS MS-63.

1883-CC and 1884-CC. GSA MS-63.

755The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$390.00
1883-CC GSA MS-65.
Though most apparent on the reverse, prooflike fields figure prominently into the visual appeal of both sides of this mostly brilliant Morgan. It is always difficult to assess the proper grade for a...
756The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$575.00
