(About The Images)
1800 B-10 XF-40. 1800 B-10 XF-40.
Lot Title: 1800 B-10 XF-40.
Description: Just enough original mint luster persists around the edges to convey an Extremely Fine grade. Although the surfaces have a slightly pasty-white appearance, some darker edge toning creates an impression that this coin is reasonably original. Under a lamp, a few hairlines flicker here and there, with a couple of prolonged vertical lines in the right obverse field, and a small patch on the reverse above the arrows, but most collectors would be pleased with the prevailing quality of this early dollar.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

760The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,300.00
1800 NGC VF details/improperly cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. NGC's "cleaned" disclaimer calls attention to somewhat glossy surface character, including out-of-place reflectivity in the fields that suggests light polishing. ...
780The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$2,000.00
1800 (B-8, BB-188) NGC VF details/improperly cleaned.
Marshmallow Collection. Glossy texture belies a reasonably forgivable cleaning, with essentially no hairlines visible even under a loupe. Iridescent sky-blue tends to color the obverse left field,...
781The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$5,250.00
1800 (BB-193, B-13) NGC AU-53.
Thick, deep olive-ebony patina utterly dominates the appearance of the whole coin, with front and back richly textured in this color scheme. The benefit is that any small marks or hairlines will not...
891The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$3,500.00
1800 (B-10, BB-190) NGC AU details/cleaned.
NGC declares the coin to be cleaned (what bust dollar hasn't been?), but if true, it is not even close to obvious at first glance. On the contrary, the surfaces seem to show very attractive...
622The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$6,000.00
1800 (BB-193, B-13) NGC AU-53.
Perhaps owing in part to the very low-contrast presentation, no marks can be seen on either side. Fresh to the NGC census and properly attributed, this 1800 B-13 appears to be struck from prime dies,...
779The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$710.00
1800 (B-16) F details/planchet defect on rim/cleaned/questionable...
The dot below "E" in LIBERTY is unique to B-16, and a nice die break at the last "S" in STATES suggests a late die-state. A small planchet flaw on the obverse rim at 8:00 is responsible for minor...
671The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,750.00
1800 Close Date/Low 8 (B-16, BB-187, R.2) PCGS VF-20.
Final die-state for B-16 is characterized by enigmatic flaws above "ES" on the reverse. PCGS has assigned a VF-20 grade to this charcoal-grey example, and while details are a touch lacking for that...
672The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$2,500.00
1800 Normal Close Date (B-5, BB-189, R.3) VF.
A deep, thick blanket of crust really adds to the vintage appeal of this bust dollar, attributed as B-5, a scarce die marriage for 1800. As egregious and sadly prevalent as it is today, cleaning bust...
673The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$6,250.00
1800 (B-13, BB-193 R.4)) NGC AU-50.
For B-13, the eagle has a star practically in his mouth, and in this later die state, the reverse is easy to recognize by several curving clash marks through "OF". Attribution is not listed on the...
539The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$1,150.00
1800 Draped Bust dollar F/scratched, 1871 Seated dollar F/grafitti,...
Very divergent types comprise this trio of silver dollars, covering the date range of 1800 to 1921 in just about the most expedient selection of coins possible. An 1800 B-19 "AMERICAI" bust dollar is...
667The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,100.00
1800 NGC F-15.
Although not indicated on the NGC holder, a dot next to Liberty’s upper curl, and strong doubling of "T" (T1) on the reverse confirms attribution as B-16. Despite a white appearance that is...
669The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,250.00
1800 B-13 LDS XF-40 Details, Heavily Repaired.
Extensive repair of the obverse has removed unknown surface issues, most likely graffiti, and the reverse has been carefully whizzed. The entire misfortunate coin then was subjected to some sort of...
729The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$800.00
1800 ICG GD-6.
If a coin graded Good could ever be called choice for the grade, it would be this one. All of you that have been waiting for a nice lower grade dollar for your type set, wait no more because this...
730The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,100.00
1800 B-8, BB-188, R-2 VF-20+.
An aesthetically appealing specimen with pewter-gray surfaces enriched with stunning blue hues. There are a few toned over marks, mainly behind Liberty's profile, and the piece is void of any...
731The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$3,100.00
1800 B-14, BB-194, Rarity-3. ANACS XF-40.
This particular variety has been distinctly classified as the "Dotted Date" variety since the first "0" in the date displays a series of raised dots, both inside and outside, that resulted from die...
657The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$1,700.00
1800 B-16, BB-187, Rarity-2 VF-20.
A handsome, originally toned, rich pewter-gray specimen of this Robert Scott, Heraldic Eagle Designed, Silver Dollar. A few unobtrusive contact marks, below the corner of Liberty's mouth, are noted. ...
