Lot Title:
1841-O NGC AU-55.
Description:
Here is a lavishly original coin that yields scarcely any detractions except under the most persistent loupe examination. It is only then that a couple of incidental abrasions above the Eagle’s left wing become noteworthy. Of more interest to competent collectors is the outstanding originality evident throughout this piece. Seldom do early Seated quarters in the AU grade-range survive without being dipped or otherwise improved; yet, that seems to be the case here. Lovely hues of sunset orange and indigo permeate the obverse margins, yielding to flint-grey color atop the primary devices. The reverse is similar, showing generous helpings of almond tinting the fields. Gorgeous! Collectors who enjoy varieties will not want to miss the die-breaks on the left reverse rim.
