Description:

Although not stated on its label, this piece is to be considered one of the noteworthy contemporary counterfeits of this issue. These spurious issues typically appear in extremely high grades as compared to the rare genuine issues. Additionally, the grading services do not differentiate authentic examples from these highly deceptive pieces. This variety appears to be the one Breen refers to as dated 1755/3. This billon Sous Marques has most of its silvering intact. It is extremely handsome with sharp and crisp legends, date, mintmark, and design motifs.
