(About The Images)
1866 PF-65 BN. 1866 PF-65 BN.
Lot Title: 1866 PF-65 BN.
Description: An estimated 850 to 1,100 Proof issues were struck this year. Its mirrored fields reflect an ostentatious orange-tan hue with deeper blue highlights that are mainly centered on Liberty's motif. Under a glass, some minute toning specks are discerned. Aesthetically pleasing with commendable design motif definition.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

312The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$525.00
1866, 1873 Open 3, and 1886 Ty 2, all NGC AU-58 BN.
Gentle copper-brown shades sneak into the periphery of 1866, while 1873 features satiny texture, but also some indications of a defective porous planchet (as struck) toward the obverse upper left. ...
238The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$602.00
1866 NGC MS-64 RB.
No line holder. It is far from easy to locate a "nice" 1866 cent, since that was the first year that faulty planchets started to become prevalent, reducing the supply of really attractive examples...
239The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$1,150.00
1866 PCGS MS-65 RB.
Smoldering, deep ember-red patina occupies 85% of the obverse and two-thirds of the reverse, the balanced tinged by strictly original earth-brown tone. This is a knockout GEM example of a tough date...
242The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$160.00
1866 (VP-006, Snow-10) NGC XF-40 BN.
Snow-10 (called VP-006 for NGC's "variety plus" service) is characterized by repunching of the "1" and "6" in the dates. Unfortunately, despite having been certified during a more conservative phase...
289The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$200.00
1866 PCGS AU-55.
An exquisite example of a date that may be a little underrated in the Indian cent series. Only the most strictly original surfaces appear on each side, replete with the most ideal brown color...
518The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$625.00
1866 and 1869 PCGS.
Very fine pepper-dots can be seen on the obverse of the 1866 cent, which is graded AU-50. The 1869 is noticeably finer despite a mere five point spread in grade at AU-55, and it is actually one of...
312The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$575.00
1866 PF-65
The detailing is outstanding on this exceptionally colorful specimen with a mostly luxurious orange color. The central obverse motif is further embellished by rose and blue hues, while the reverse is...
332The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$250.00
1866 MS-60 BN.
This boldly struck post-Civil War issue has intense detailing on the bonnet's feathers and diamond pattern on its ribbon. When employing a glass, a light sprinkling of toned-over ticks are observed...
