(About The Images)
1824 /2/0 O-103 and 1829 O-112a XF-45. 1824 /2/0 O-103 and 1829 O-112a XF-45.
Lot Title: 1824 /2/0 O-103 and 1829 O-112a XF-45.
Description: A pair of perfectly matched bust halves, both with strong XF details. Each displays album toning at the margins, with the color being particularly vibrant on the reverse of the 1829, while the reverse of the 1824/2/0 is of common silver color. Each also displays much luster for the XF level, and most collectors would probably call the 1829 fully AU but for a couple of inoffensive grease streaks (as struck) above Liberty’s bust. The 1824/2/0 overdate is obvious, as always. A dynamic duo that may well exceed our top estimate. Two coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

659The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$270.00
1824 (O-114, R.5) F.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. At latest check, bust half nuts still list 1824 O-114 as a rare R.5 die-marriage, and this one grade at just about a perfect F-12. Salmon-grey patina endows the...
481The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,050.00
1824 (O-105, R.2) NGC MS-62.
O-105 is one of the easier 1824 die marriages to attribute, since a lump on the point of Liberty's chin practically makes further pickup points unnecessary. The first "S" in STATES is close and a...

A half-dozen capped bust half-dollars constitute this lot, and they are somewhat better than average coins. Offered are: 1824 O-113 (XF-45), 1825 O-106a (XF-45/cleaned), 1826 O-117 (XF-40), 1828...

1824 (O-111, R.2) AU.
CONSIGNOR: I forgot how nice the doubling looks on this one. One of my early purchases. CATALOGER: Semi-brilliant fields harbor about half the obverse luster and nearly all the luster on the reverse...
750The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$350.00
1824 overdate (O-103, R.1) AU.
Some specialists believe the overdate is properly designated 1824/2/0, an opinion that your cataloger happens to agree with, and even Al Overton merely suggested a "jumble of recuttings". This is a...
575The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$475.00
1824 (O-104 R2) and 1831 (O-114 R3) Capped Bust half-dollars
The 1824 is a dusky, original coin with pleasing, sweeping mint luster that is practically complete through the fields. A scribble of scratches at AMER require mention, but they are old, localized...
571The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$160.00
1824 O-104 and 1830 O-123 LDS “Large 0”.
Although both of these coins have been cleaned, the difference in the level of surface alteration is dramatic. The 1824 is blindingly bright, with no area left untouched by the cleaning process. ...

1824 O-104, R-2. MS-60+ Lightly Cleaned.
Easily identified by the minute die protuberance between the scroll and Eagle's head beneath the "U" of "PLURIBUS." Although it appears to have been subjected to a delicate cleaning, it portrays an...
1417The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$850.00
1824 O-103, R-1. MS-62.
An overdate issue with glowing white surfaces. The observed marks are, for the most part, insignificant on this prominently struck example.
