1971-S/S Doubled Die Obverse, Type Two, VP-001, FS-032. NGC PF-67 RD CAMEO.
Description:
According to the Cherrypickers' Guide, there are three die varieties listed for 1971-S Proof Lincoln Memorial Cents with doubled-die obverses. This guide estimates that there are 10 to 30 specimens known for each of these die varieties. For Proof cents, the life of a die is generally considered to be 2,000 to 2,500 struck issues. On this variety, pronounced doubling appears on the date, "GOD," and "LIBERTY." This specimen's frosted motifs are complemented by its deep mirrored fields. There are a couple toning specs, mainly observed on the left obverse. This piece beams with an intense orange-red. NGC Census: 12, 7 finer, PF-69 finest.
