(About The Images)
1836 O-120 AU-58. 1836 O-120 AU-58.
Lot Title: 1836 O-120 AU-58.
Description: There will be arguments either way with regard to whether the toning on this satiny, lustrous bust half is of natural origin or not, but this cataloger believes it to be as natural as that of any number of certified coins. Regardless of such diversionary discussions, it is a very attractive piece, with toning that follows a valid pattern of natural color progression. Iridescent sea green color at the margins modulates through ocean blue hues, then finally evolves into the mulberry color that saturates much of the obverse. The reverse displays less color, except in a nickel-sized area centered about the Eagle’s left (observed) claws. Strong detail is nicely brought up in all areas, and there are absolutely no defects or blemishes seen without a glass. This may in fact be a commercial “Unc.” coin.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
