(About The Images)
1874 PCGS PF-66. 1874 PCGS PF-66.
Lot Title: 1874 PCGS PF-66.
Description: A delight to behold, the surfaces of this fabulous 3-cent nickel are imbued with subtle rainbow tones that encompass the central devices in stunning fashion. Liberty’s portrait is awash in heavenly blue color and framed on either side by perfectly symmetrical crescents of prismatic color, while the reverse displays a colorful progression of iridescent green, turquoise, and pastel rouge. Words cannot adequately convey the marvelous chromatic effect! Examination of this coin with a glass is pure pleasure, and reveals subtle parallel die polish lines across many areas of the obverse, along with sharp detail. Two virtually invisible planchet striations can be found on Liberty’s cheek, with another on her earlobe, and –- surprising for a proof coin –- a couple of little, wispy die defects on Liberty’s lower neck that display as raised bumps. A legitimately remarkable coin that can offer literally hours of pleasurable viewing.
