1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65 and 1890 NGC MS-63. 1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65 and 1890 NGC MS-63.
Lot Title: 1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65 and 1890 NGC MS-63.
Description: This eye-catching pair is enhanced by exquisite iridescent nuances. The 1883 specimen reflects a delicate rose gold. Its 1890 companion displays a robin blue intertwined with a crimson-gold on its obverse, while the reverse has a polychromatic palette of sea green, yellow, and fiery crimson. The 1883 has some trivial ticks on Liberty's profile. A light sprinkle of speckles and ticks are perceived on the obverse of the 1890 example. Although neither has full kernel definition on the left ears of corn, they each have prominent design definition.
Low Estimate: $240.00
High Estimate: $300.00

544The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$330.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-64 CAMEO.
Gus Johnson Proof Collection. Cameo without doubt, with silver brilliance that enhances the generally pristine first-impression. Trivial hairlines and some grey carbon flecks on the obverse...
545The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$915.00
1883 No Cents. PCGS PF-66.
The Nickel-To-A-Doughnut Collection. An obvious choice for type, the "no cents" reverse was coined for only one year, of course, and although common as a circulation strike, mintage for the proofs...
339The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$500.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-65.
Brushed-aluminum texture dominates the coin but fails to completely suppress surprisingly good obverse cameo contrast. Both sides possess immensely attractive needle-sharp detail that almost belies...
340The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$625.00
1883 No Cents. PCGS PF-65CAM.
Pronounced cameo effect maximizes the eye-appeal of this lead-grey nickel proof. Neither side can truly be called "deeply mirrored", but the CAM designation properly calls attention to excellent...
338The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$400.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-64 CAMEO.
Cameo effect has become subdued on account of interesting graphite-aluminum patina resting on each side, but potent reflectivity does seem to lurk beneath that toning, verifying the designation. On...
339The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$700.00
1883 PCGS PF-65, and an 1883 NGC MS-66.
Presentation as both a proof and circulation strike comes with this pair of superb Liberty nickels. A proof 1883 "no cents" grades PCGS PF-65, and the coin exhibits extremely sharp details. Slight...
340The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$425.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-65.
Obvious cameo effect is there for all to see, but the contrast may not be quite strong enough to allow for the designation. On the other hand, the sharpness is utterly "all there", without even the...
915The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$750.00
One hundred fifty-one 1883 No Cents.
Assuredly one of the more remarkable lots in today's sale, here is a group of 1883 "no cents" Liberty nickels, nearly four rolls' worth. A little bit of careful inspection reveals a variety of die...
916The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,150.00
1883 No Cents PCGS MS-65 (green label), 1894 PCGS MS-63 (green label),...
1883 "no cents" is a sparkling knockout coin that offers vibrant pastel color and a load of luster. Some marks behind the hair bun should be noted, especially given the MS-65 assessment. 1894 is...
917The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$675.00
1883 No Cents NGC PF-66.
Pristine surfaces gleam with colorless steel-grey on the obverse, while the reverse is splashed with rust-gold toning mostly across the middle. Minimal cameo effect is noted, and a loupe reveals a...
508The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$700.00
1883 No Cents and 1910 NGC MS-65.
This is a pair of Liberty nickels that harmonize in high-fidelity, wide-spectrum stereo. On the left is an 1883 "no cents", pulsating with rhythmic rainbow tone around the rims, and where is the...
296The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$900.00
Twenty 1883 No Cents.
Every single member of this half-roll of 1883 no-cents nickels is a pretty, original BU coin, with most of them displaying glittering luster and captivating beauty. Twenty coin lot.
297The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$160.00
1883 No Cents. PCGS MS-65.
Clean surfaces with minimal distractions to note. The semi-reflective fields are partially subdued with a golden-russet patina and shades of electric blue (Mark).
253The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$200.00
Two 1883 no cent Liberty Head nickels. MS-64 and MS-65.
Excellent quality is displayed by both of these 1883 "no cents" nickels. One coin shines with semi-prooflike appeal, while the other shimmers with outstanding mint frost, and these are fairly well...
197The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$725.00
Sixteen 1883 No Cents. Uncirculated.
Technically, a couple of coins in this lot might only achieve the AU-58 grade, but overall, these coins represent close to half of a complete roll of BU nickels. All are very original pieces, and...
198The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$725.00
1883 No Cents. PCGS PF-65 Cameo.
Business strike examples of the "no cents" nickel are of course very common, but in proof format, it is a much scarcer coin, particularly with nice cameo contrast. The stars and the date have been...
199The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$140.00
1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65.
Light beige patina, with a reverse nearly completely shattered by numerous large die cracks.
543The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$675.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-65 Cameo.
Extremely brilliant on both sides, without even the slightest hint of tone. The strike is sharp, but not exceedingly so, as the left ear of corn is somewhat indistinct.
578The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$320.00
Seven 1883 No Cents. NGC MS-64.
A lot of 1883 "no cents" Liberty nickels, each certified as MS-64 by NGC. Two of the coins feature particularly nice reverse detail, and a few display interesting obverse die cracks in this seven...
350The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$360.00
1883 No Cents, 1889, 1892, 1903 and 1909 Liberty nickels.
Enjoyable Liberty nickels comprise this quintet. They are enumerated with commentary as follows: 1883 "no cents" (MS-64+, basically a gem except for lack of strike definition on the right obverse...
486The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$200.00
1883 'no cents' Liberty nickel, NGC MS-65
A golden sunbeam arcs across the obverse and drapes two thirds of the portrait with lovely shades of sunset color. Though the strike can only be considered average, it is compensated by surface...
345The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$140.00
1883 No Cents. MS-62 and 1889 MS-62.
The 1889 is a deeply original coin, while the "no-cents" appears AU. However, it was actually struck with a partially filled die, so it is, in fact, an uncirculated coin as well. Two coin lot.
404The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$500.00
1883 No Cents. MS-64 PL, 1889 MS-63, and 1912-S F-12.
The 1883 specimen has reflective surfaces with vibrant golden nuances. In addition, there is very decent kernel definition on the left ear of the corn. A visual elegance is projected from the 1889's...
333The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$900.00
1883 No Cents. NGC PF-66.
Although the recorded mintage is a lofty 5,219, this glistening example ranks among the finest to be certified. A trace of rose iridescence enhances its mirrored surfaces. A couple specs and ticks...
930The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$450.00
1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65.
Incandescent target rainbow tones adorn both the obverse and reverse of this breathtaking nickel. Electric hues of magenta, orange, green, and violet can be seen on both the obverse and reverse. ...
931The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$260.00
1883 No Cents. ANACS MS-65.
The devices show perfect detail and are a bit frostier than the fully lustrous surfaces. If not for a contact mark above the wreath on the reverse, this coin would be a lock MS-66.
1125The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$230.00
1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65.
A wonderful first year issue nickel that has violet tones and zero distractions.
1126The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$240.00
1883 No Cents. NGC MS-65.
An iridescent rose blush blankets the gleaming satinlike surfaces. A few stray ticks, some interesting obverse die cracks, and reverse die striations are observed on this impressively struck first...
