(About The Images)
Seven Buffalo Nickels. Seven Buffalo Nickels.
Lot Title: Seven Buffalo Nickels.
Description: 1913 T2, 1913-D T2, 1921, 1921-S, 1926-S, 1936-S and 1938-D. Each is market-fresh and free of problems. The 1913 Type 2 is a luxuriant, frosty and well-struck example with a particularly attractive reverse that displays pearlescent surface quality, and unimproveable appeal at our grade of MS-64. Despite a modest grade of XF-40, the 1913-D Type 2 coin exudes confident originality and endearing surface quality, with a fully outlined horn. The 1921-S example is a superb F-12+, with a far above average planchet and none of the usual lamination problems. The P-mint 1921 grades a perfect VF-20. Usual flatness of strike is visible on the key-date 1926-S, yet "LIBERTY" is plainly separated from the rim, and the Indian’s braid and hair-knot are surprisingly sharp. The buffalo’s horn is about 80% complete, and the very original, pleasing surface quality confirm our grade of VF-20. The strike of the 1936-S displays somewhat typical central weakness of strike, but the luster is enhanced by glowing lemon-yellow patination, yielding an MS-60 grade. Finally, the 1938-D is a typical, nice MS-63 representative.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
