(About The Images)
1877 NGC PF-65. 1877 NGC PF-65.
Lot Title: 1877 NGC PF-65.
Description: This example's opulent lavender surfaces project a flamboyant magnificence. After close scrutiny, there is nary a toning spec to perceive, nor contact ticks to report. Using a powerful glass, some delicate die striations are detected on its reverse. The Red Book records 510+ pieces struck for this Proof-only date, but it is generally accepted to be in the range of 1,250 up to 1,500 specimens. It is magnificently struck with frosted devices offset by mirrored fields.

963The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,600.00
1877 PF-60.
Allan indicates the equivalent Breen-2437 as 1877/18, and indeed, "1" in the date is slightly repunched north, and the lower inner loop of "8" is slightly doubled. PF-60 should be deemed a...
459The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$3,400.00
1877 (P01, plate coin) PCGS PF-65 (doily label).
1877 P01 RPD-001, Plate. The three-cent nickel series has a distinction whereby one cannot collect a complete set of sequential dates with circulation strikes only. A complete run with no gaps...
350The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$3,500.00
1877 NGC PF-66 CAMEO.
The series remains neglected, unpopular and relegated to second-class numismatic status, and yet three-cent nickels provide a wealth of beauty in proof format, and remain one of the few sets of coins...
351The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$4,600.00
1877 PCGS PF-66CAM CAC.
Key to the proof series for three-cent nickels, the mintage in 1877 was only 510 pieces, which would lead to fame, glory and untold riches were this a more popular series. Sadly, three-cent nickels...
521The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$4,500.00
1877 PCGS PF-66.
In 1877, the mint struck only 510 proof three-cent nickels and no business strikes, making this perhaps the most elusive date overall in the series. Very rarely do beautifully toned examples come to...
560The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$875.00
1877 ANACS AU details/corroded/cleaned, Net PF-40.
Sporadic areas of spongy texture on the reverse confirm the "corroded" disclaimer, but the "cleaned" assertion is corroborated only barely by a slightly glossy appearance. Otherwise, this proof-only...
