Lot Title:
1836 JR-1, R-3, AU-50 and 1837 JR-4, R-1, AU-55.
Description:
This is a charming die variety pair from the last two years of this design type. The 1836's obverse has a graceful golden blush while its reverse softens to a lighter ivory aspect. The 1837 is a glistening white with just the most delicate hint of a golden iridescence. Both of these specimens exhibit some minuscule marks. The 1836 displays slight rim crumbling on the reverse above "STA." Diagnostic to the 1837 is the delicate bisecting die crack extending from 12:30 to 5:30.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
