Lot Title:
1802 2/0 Reverse of 1800 C-2, R-3. ANACS VG-8.
Description:
This is one of the true giants in the half cent series. Instantly recognizable by the die break from the "E" in "UNITED" to the "C" in "Cent." All known specimens are of low grade with the finest known grading just Very Fine. This coin is housed in an ANACS holder and is graded VG Details Corroded. The corrosion is quite insignificant compared with others of this variety. The details and overall surface quality compare favorably with the coin pictured in the Manley Half Cent book, which is also a corroded coin. This date and the 1796 dated coin are always the last holes filled in the half cent collector's album, and this is a national treasure destined for the most advanced of collections.

The 1802/0 "reverse of 1800" is very rare, with maybe sixteen to eighteen coins known, and the presence of any example automatically makes an associated sale of half-cents an event significant to... |
