Lot Title:
1807/6 Large 7 over 6, Pointed 1, S-273, R-1. VF-20.
Description:
This overdate example is the most common overdate variety among early Large Cents. Indicative of the last marriage of this reverse die is a break seen from "C" of "AMERICA" to the lowest point of the leaf below. A heavy reverse rim break is perceived on the reverse above "ST" of "STATES." Also, a bulge is observed to the left of Liberty's lowest hair curl, and underneath her chin and hair ribbon are a few heavy incusings. It displays a lovely chocolate brown aspect, and its rather smooth surfaces enhance this piece's visual appeal.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
