(About The Images)
Run of three 1923 $1.00. AU. Run of three 1923 $1.00. AU.
Lot Title: Run of three 1923 $1.00. AU.
Description: Fr-40. Run of three sequential notes that are wonderfully fresh and crisp. All three are perfectly original and show dandy brightness and color. Without the center folds on each, all would have graded Choice.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $1,300.00
High Estimate: $1,700.00

Lot #AuctionCurrent Bid or Hammer PriceDescription
20The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$210.00
1923 $1 XF.
Fr# 40. Quite nice for XF with ivory-white paper and pleasing ink. Well-centered and a great choice for type at a modestly circulated level.
59The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$750.00
Run of Three 1923 $1 XF/chemically altered.
Fr# 40. Some sort of washing or soaking process may have been an attempt to remove stains, but now the red seals and serial numbers bleed through to the back of each note. Consecutively numbered.
39The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$775.00
Run of three 1923 $1 AU/foxing.
Fr# 40. A run of three 1923 legal tender notes appear to grade AU from a technical standpoint. They seem to have been overly washed in the past such that the seals now bleed through and are visible...
27The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,650.00
1923 $1.00 Star. PMG XF-45 EPQ.
Fr# 40 Star. Extremely well centered, the note faces up as AU, especially with such choice quality paper. Very difficult to locate as a star note given such a high grade.
28The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,850.00
Run of five 1923 $1.00. XF.
Fr# 40. Here is a run of five 1923 red-seal legal tender notes, each one bright and original. While we call these XF or so, that is mostly due to waviness in the paper, and we can easily foresee...
138The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$550.00
1923 $1.00 CHCU.
Fr# 40. Lovely, appealing note with superior color, especially on the back. Both sides are exceptionally well centered, making this an excellent type example.
139The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$950.00
1923 $1.00 CHCU.
Fr# 40. A very low three digit serial number 239 adds to the appeal of this pleasing 1923 legal tender single. Average paper shows no problems except perhaps a faint thumbprint at far right.
140The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1923 $1.00. PCGS CHCU-63 EPQ.
Fr# 40. Excellent eye-appeal due to very nice paper and proper ink, with the note rather well centered for only the CU-63 grade.
141The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$850.00
1923 $1.00. PCGS GemCU-65PPQ.
Fr# 40. Stunning color with bright, eye-appealing ink and exceptional paper. Front and back could hardly be better centered.
60The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,700.00
1923 $1.00 Star. PMG ChoiceXF-45 EPQ.
Fr. 40 Star. Very pretty star note that nearly meets AU expectations, except for a fold on the bottom right corner. Gorgeous, high contrast motifs and almost ideally centered.
61The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$425.00
1923 $1.00. PCGS AU-55PPQ.
Fr. 40. The note is essentially UNC, but for two factors that deem the AU-55 grade necessary: the background color is not quite bright enough to be new, and the upper left corner is lightly folded. ...
44The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$330.00
1923 $1.00. AU.
Fr# 40. AU with a blazing red seal and all the appearance of an UNC. Evidence of handling is just noticeable at the upper left corner.
36The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$525.00
1923 $1.00. CU.
Fr-40. Framed very well within good, big margins is this bright, gleaming 1923 red seal. Edges are razor sharp and the corners nearly so.
120The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$525.00
1923 $1.00. CU.
Fr-40. Flamboyant, strawberry red seals and serial numbers blaze off the front of this premium quality uncirculated note. The reverse is flawless as well, with the only deficiency being a slightly...
108The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$3,000.00
Three Sequential 1923 $1.00. PCGS
Fr-40. All three examples are as bright as can be, and all have been awarded the PPQ designation. They grade AU-58, Gem-66, and CHCU-64. Great embossing is present on each.
109The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$550.00
1923 $1.00. CU.
Fr-40. Bright red print on paper that remains white and superbly crisp. Appears lightly pressed, and the top magin is just a tad tight, but this is still a very solid CU example of the type.
105The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$370.00
1923 $1.00 Star. VG.
FR-40. Dark tan paper, and the red color is a tad faded. However, collectors seldom come across a star example of this type in any grade, so it is reasonable to expect a fairly strong bid for this...
106The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$425.00
1923 $1.00. AU.
Fr-40. Nicely centered and bright example of a note that seems to constantly increase in popularity. A barely noticeable vertical center fold prevents an otherwise CU note from achieving that grade.
142The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$280.00
1923 $1.00. VF.
Fr-40. Vibrant red ink on original, crisp paper. A few toning flecks are seen on both sides, but the overwhelming majority of the paper is the original white it was when printed.
156The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$425.00
1923 $1.00 Star. PMG F-15.
Fr-40*. Extremely rare Legal Tender dollar star. There appears to be a few minor margin splits, but this is easily a Choice Fine.
140The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$360.00
1923 $1.00 Red Seal. XF.
Fr-40. A super crisp and very bright note that faces up like an Unc. Great margins and sharp corners accentuate its appeal. The hidden folds are consistent with the XF grade.
152The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$575.00
1923 $1.00. PMG CHCU-64.
Fr-40. A gorgeous Uncirculated example with a vibrant red ink presence. The margins center the note nicely, and all but one of the margin corner tips are sharp. It's hard to ask for a better type...
