Lot Title:
1820 XF-40.
Description:
This is a charming example of the Browning-3, Large "0" variety for this date. Although rated R-2 on the rarity scale, it remains an elusive early quarter variety. Diagnostically, it is identified by the delicate die crack joining the inner left star points continuous to the numerals "18" of the date. Impressive complementary blue and crimson hues augment its deep rich pewter image. Utilizing a glass, a few light hairlines and contact ticks can be distinguished beneath its exquisite visual aspect. The details are sharply defined at this grade level.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
